How the new industry placement guidance can help you design and deliver industry placements as an employer
Following the publication of the revised DfE industry placement framework, this webinar will help employers understand what the changes may mean in practice when working with schools and colleges to host T Level industry placements.
The core requirements of industry placements remain the same. Placements must still involve external employer oversight, be linked to the student’s T Level course, and last a minimum of 315 hours.
What has changed is the scope for schools, colleges and employers to shape placements in ways that are practical, meaningful and manageable. The updated guidance gives clearer advice on approaches such as working with more than one employer, including remote hours, using small team projects, drawing on skills hubs, and agreeing timing or working patterns that better reflect workplace needs.
This session is for any employer considering, planning, hosting or expanding their involvement in T Level industry placements.
We will explore:
- what the updated guidance means from an employer perspective
- what has stayed the same, including the core placement requirements
- different ways employers can be involved, including shared placements, remote activity, small team projects and skills hubs
- how placements can be shaped around meaningful work, student development and employer capacity
- what this could mean for starting, strengthening or scaling placements in your organisation
- the support available to help you work effectively with schools and colleges
There is no charge to attend.
The session will be delivered by T Level industry placement specialists from SDN Mesma Group, on behalf of the Department for Education.
